Right to Information
Right to Information is the Queensland Government’s approach to giving the community greater access to information. The Queensland Government has made a commitment to provide access to information held by the Government, unless it is contrary to the public interest to provide that information.
WaterSecure is committed to providing you with information and documents in accordance with Right to Information to create greater transparency and understanding of our organisation and operations.
The Information Privacy Act regulates agencies in relation to personal information about individuals. The Act includes regulation in relation to collection, access, security, use and disclosure of personal information. See the Privacy section of this website for more information on the Information Privacy Act.
The Right to Information Act facilitates access to information held by WaterSecure in the following ways:
- Provides for a Publication Scheme containing a range of information about WaterSecure
- Provides for a disclosure log providing general access to information previously released, or made available for release, in response to formal access applications made under the Right to Information Act
- Provides a formal access application process for access to information held by WaterSecure
- Requires WaterSecure to make available its policy documents (as defined in the Act) for inspection and purchase.
The Information Commissioner
The Office of the Information Commissioner is an independent body which is responsible for oversight of Right to Information in
The Information Commissioner has responsibility for:
- conducting external reviews of Right To Information decisions of agencies and Ministers
- monitoring and reporting on agencies’ compliance with the Right To Information Act and the Information Privacy Act 2009
- publishing guidelines and advice for applying the legislation
