Living or working on easements
WaterSecure owns and operates a network of more than 200 kilometres of pipeline, four plants and related infrastructure across South East Queensland. This infrastructure is mostly protected by registered easements shared with a variety of landowners including residents, industry and governments.
WaterSecure must be able to access the easement and infrastructure in our easements in order to ensure the integrity of the pipeline, conduct maintenance and ensure public safety. It is an offence to interfere with, build over, interfere with access to, change the cover over, or change the surface of the land to cause ponding over an access chamber to our infrastructure, without WaterSecure's written consent.
If you live or work near an easement and are planning on undertaking works you must submit a works application to WaterSecure.
The WaterSecure Consent Guidelines provide you with information on what you can and can’t do in our easements, as well as the application process and criteria. You should also obtain a copy of the easement document which sets out your rights and obligations in relation to works and activities within the easement area.
